Fiddler Total Wine sp

Fiddler TW sp

This was a sample given to me.

N: 9 The smell reminds me a little of the dry glass smell you typically get from wheated bourbons. Cherry, vanilla, slight touch of caramel. Not much oak. Slight dusty funk, hazelnuts, varnish, and leather. There's an illusive high pitch herbal more that moves around and you have to chase it to detect it. That's a new one. The smell keeps evolving. As it opens up in the glass, floral notes become more pronounced. And there's a developing savory hint of what I can only describe as country. I've never been to Georgia but I imagine the countryside and farmland smells like this.

P: 7 Brown sugar, industrial, oak, thick and rich. Coats the mouth very well.

F: 6 Molasses, pears, and cinnamon. Slightly rubbery, okay, ashy, chalky with a hint of clove.

O: 22 Wow what a ride. The nose on it is great. The palate and finish are, if nothing else, interesting. I believe these are about $100. I honestly really liked it but I also get the feeling that I wouldn't buy a bottle. I've already experienced the ride through this sample and feel as though I wouldn't gain much from drinking a whole bottle. This is a good one to experience at the bar.
