Worth noting that I'm not associated with the management of DFWWC. I am just a contributing member and truly like the community that's involved. I review what I drink and none of my reviews so far have been in any way skewed or influenced by management.
6 year old @58%
This is my first Traverse City so not sure what to expect. I'm excited to try though. I'll be grading this on a scale of 0-10. 10 being the best I expect in the price range.
N: The first thing I notice is how mild it is compared to the proof. No ethanol burn just sweet stewed berries and baked pastries. Sweet with a little spice. Think cherry syrup over a Crème brulee cheesecake. Strong gingerbread and vanilla notes give way to cinnamon. White and black pepper medley deeper in the glass.
9/10
P: Green Danjou pear all the way.
9/10
F : Rollercoaster that starts with watermelon and crescendos with bubble gum. The very tail is full of cinnamon, apple, pear, and oak. There's an overreaching dark note the whole way that's hard to pin down but really brings all these flavors together.
9/10
O: DFWWC delivers again with a bright whiskey that is truly above other 6 year whiskies in this price range. Traverse City is on my map now. We'll done. If you don't have one yet, I highly recommend this bourbon. I will note that this is dominantly sweet. Great for after dinner or before dinner... Or during.
