DFWWC is a great group to be a part of. Most notably it’s a group that brings the community together by facilitating a discussion platform and providing to charitable causes. I’ve been a member since 2018 and have grown my whiskey prowess immensely within that time. Not sure who specifically was involved with this pick but they did a great job to say the least. The beautiful sticker that adorns this bottle was designed by Dustin Morrison.

Appearance

Medium golden honey

Nose:

There are lots of familiar scents here. Fresh vibrant red delicious Apple gives way to baked cherries with a hint of bubble gum. Deeper in the glass, perfumery light petrol is revealed. At a distance where you can barely pick up the scent, it's Arcor strawberry candy. The kind your grandma always stocked or maybe she still does. A quick swirl around the glass opens up more citrusy notes; mandarins, cumquats, and sumo. The noise is so pleasant, I have tried to move on to the next part of my review several times, only to revisit it.

Palate:

At first I want to say it's comparable to opening the door to a dusty barn: Light flooding in for the first time in many years. Lots of oak but a dusty/grassy(dry straw)/earthy quality as well. These are not quite the same familiar tastes I picked up on the nose; familiar non the less. It's almost like it transforms from a sophisticated lady who wears pearls to a rugged outdoorsy gentleman from nose to palate.
I'm going in for a second pour.
There's a definite sweetness nicely accompanied by the bitterness of oak and charcoal.

Finish:

Our well-dressed lady is back. This tail tells a tale worth reading twice. You just did. So did I. Orange zest and currants yield to cherries and cotton candy riding sidecar with oak and char. Once they both pass, a long riding medley of candied berries and fruit take you all the way home.

Overall this is another home run for DFWWC.
